As part of its commitment to support New England’s Health and Human Service agencies, the New England States Consortium Systems Organization (NESCSO), has partnered with the Region 1 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), to sponsor a  Training on the State Plan Amendment (SPA) Process for New England States on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 9:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

 

Expert Faculty: The training will be provided by CMS Region I experts in the SPA Process and Medicaid eligibility, coverage and reimbursement policies. The RO experts will be joined by Andrew Badaracco from the CMS Central Office, Non-Institutional Payment Team (NIPT).

Curriculum: In this training, CMS staff will cover the complete process and timeline for submitting SPAs from “why and when to submit a SPA” to the approval or disapproval of the SPA.  Training topics will include:

CMS SPA Review Timeline

The training will conclude with the opportunity for State participants to meet one-on-one with their CMS RO I state lead. Lunch will be provided on-site by NESCSO.

 

Audience: This training session is targeted to state Medicaid staff with responsibility for drafting, submitting, and processing SPAs.

Timing: The training will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 9:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at the JFK Federal Building, 15 New Sudbury St, Boston, MA 02203. We will convene in the CMS RO I conference rooms 2200A and B, on the 22nd floor.

Travel Reimbursement: NESCSO will reimburse state Medicaid staff for their mileage and lodging (if needed) to attend the training.  Please contact David.Huffman@nescso.org for questions on Travel Reimbursement.
